NC Voters Must Elect a President and Members of Congress Who Will Repeal Obamacare.

“All voters who care about the value and dignity of human life must do everything they can to elect Mitt Romney and a Congress who are committed to repeal of ObamaCare,” said National Right to Life President Carol Tobias. “If President Obama wins re-election, it will mean massive abortion subsidies and it will put the lives of millions at risk through systematic government-imposed rationing of lifesaving medical care.”

In light of the U. S. Supreme Court upholding Obamacare, Barbara Holt, President of North Carolina Right to Life stated, "We will redouble our efforts to educate NC voters about the importance of electing this fall a pro-life President and members of Congress who will repeal ObamaCare."

Today’s U.S. Supreme Court ruling upholding most of the ObamaCare law is a call-to-action for the right-to-life electorate to work to elect a Congress and president this November committed to repealing ObamaCare in 2013, in order to prevent a future in which abortion insurance will be heavily subsidized by federal taxpayers and federal bureaucrats will be authorized to ration life-saving medical treatment. That is the assessment of the National Right to Life Committee (NRLC), the federation of state right-to-life organizations, after analysis of today’s ruling in National Federation of Independent Business v. Sebelius.

Under the enacted law, federal tax-based subsidies will begin in 2014 to subsidize millions of private insurance plans that will cover abortion-on-demand, including some plans (“multi-state plans”) that will be administered by the federal government. Under another provision of the law, the federal government could even order many plans that do not receive federal subsidies to cover abortion as a “preventive” service. The law also created an array of other mechanisms and funding pipelines by which access to and subsidies for abortion can be expanded if President Obama wins a second term.

Moreover, few Americans realize that under ObamaCare, private citizens’ right to spend their own money to save the lives of their own families will be subject to drastic restriction.
Unless repealed, ObamaCare will give federal bureaucrats the power to impose so-called “quality” measures on all health care providers, under which treatment that a doctor and patient deem needed to save that patient’s life or preserve the patient’s health but which runs afoul of the imposed standards will be denied, even if the patient is willing and able to pay for it. In 2015 and thereafter, an 18-member “Independent Payment Advisory Board” is directed to inform the federal Department of Health and Human Services how to use those imposed standards to limit what private citizens are permitted to spend on their own families’ health care to below the rate of medical inflation.

These and other provisions of the law that will authorize rationing are documented at

National Right to Life and North Carolina Right to Life strongly opposed enactment of the ObamaCare law because of its abortion and rationing components.

According to Live Action, Planned Parenthood and A Woman's Choice in Raleigh Support Sex Selection Abortions

Today, the NC General Assembly is on the verge of passing the 2012 budget which contains a special provision to prevent organizations like Planned Parenthood from receiving tax dollars for family planning. Planned Parenthood has been leafleting the individual households in the districts of those members of the legislature who support this special provision.

Now, Live Action releases footage showing that Planned Parenthood of Chapel Hill and A Woman's Choice of Raleigh support sex selection abortions.

Read the recent Live Action Press Release below. Then, call your members of the General Assembly to tell them you support not giving tax dollars to those groups who perform abortions. Find your legislators' contact information at this link: NC General Assembly.

NC Planned Parenthood and NAF Support Sex-Selective Abortion in Undercover Tapes
Abortion Industry Participates In Real War on Women Through
Search-And-Destroy Procedures on Little Girls

Raleigh, NC –Today, Live Action released new undercover footage showing a National Abortion Federation (NAF) clinic in Raleigh and a Planned Parenthood abortion clinic in Chapel Hill advising women on how best to procure a sex-selective abortion of their baby girls because they want a boy instead. Live Action’s “Gendercide” project has now documented abortion clinics’ support for sex-selection at 8 clinics in 5 states.  The latest footage is available atwww.ProtectOurGirls.com

In the video, a counselor at NAF member “A Woman’s Choice of Raleigh, Inc” refers a woman purportedly seeking a sex-selective abortion to an OB/GYN to confirm the gender of the baby with a diagnostic ultrasound. The counselor, “Jessica,” assures that the clinic will not have a conflict with performing a sex-selective procedure: “Your reasons are your reasons,” she says, “You know, it’s totally fine.” She also advises the woman to lie to her OB/GYN to cover her sex-selective abortion, counseling, “Just say that you had to go to the hospital and miscarried.”

At Planned Parenthood’s Chapel Hill abortion clinic, the nurse “Michelle” confirms the woman’s sex-selective motive: “It sounds like you, um, would like confirmation of the gender of the pregnancy, and um, depending on that, would, you know, kind of make the decision for you.” When the woman says she is 16 weeks’ pregnant, the Planned Parenthood nurse notes, “You know, there are, um, increased risks with the abortion procedure,” at that stage. But when the woman asks, “Can you tell me a little bit about that?” the nurse changes the subject back to procuring an accurate sex-selective abortion: “Well, I could, but, um, what I think would be more relevant is to give you some referrals to UNC OB/GYN because they have a very wonderful ultrasound department who can give you a detailed ultrasound, um, and do further testing” to be sure of the sex of the fetus. When the woman asks if she might ever face a denial of abortion services at Planned Parenthood if she wants to abort future girl pregnancies, the nurse reassures her, “We do not turn patients away who are seeking our services.”

“This latest footage again shows Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry’s callous disregard for the health of women - born and unborn,” says Lila Rose, founder and president of Live Action. “Planned Parenthood and their abortion allies are waging the real war on women, and tax payers should not have to subsidize the abortion-first mentality that enables extreme gender discrimination, puts women's health at risk, and destroys thousands of innocent lives.”

Planned Parenthood in North Carolina receives nearly $400,000 annually in taxpayer subsidies which Gov. Beverly Perdue has refused to cut.

Sex-selective abortion is legal in all but 4 states in the U.S. Last week, the Prenatal Non-Discrimination Act (PRENDA), which would prohibit sex-selective abortions nationwide, was introduced in the Senate. Planned Parenthood claims to condemn sex-selective abortion, but in a statement last month, President and CEO Cecile Richards opposed PRENDA because it would “limit [a woman’s] choices.” Six studies in the past four years indicate that there are thousands of “missing girls” in the U.S. from sex-selective abortion. Worldwide, over 160 million girls are missing because of sex-selective abortion.

RIGHT-TO-LIFE FORCES WIN MAJOR VICTORY DURING RIO+20 CONFERENCE ON SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

Right-to-life forces won a major victory yesterday during the Rio+20 United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, The Future We Want (a follow-up to the 1992 Rio Earth Summit), by stopping the advancement of the pro-abortion agenda at the UN. According to reports from Rio, a group of countries, led by delegations from the Holy See, Russia, Honduras, Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Chile, Egypt, Malta, Poland and Costa Rica, assisted by members of the Pro-Life and Pro-Family Coalition of Non-Governmental Organizations including NRL Educational Trust, were able to keep the term “reproductive rights” (a code word for abortion) out of the conference’s final document.

“We have known for decades that most maternal deaths can be prevented with adequate nutrition, basic health care and good obstetric care through pregnancy, at delivery, and postpartum,” noted Jeanne E. Head, R.N., National Right to Life vice president for international affairs and UN representative. “Yet some in the international community, including the current United States delegation, have focused their efforts on legalizing abortion at the expense of women’s lives. Women in the developing world need access to better health care, not the right to destroy their children in the womb.”

In an analysis released last month at the World Health Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland, National Right to Life and MCCL Global Outreach confirmed that improved medical care and other developmental factors, such as improvement in education levels, not abortion leads to decreases in maternal deaths throughout the developing world. The analysis highlights a peer-reviewed study of maternal mortality in Chile published on May 4. The researchers, led by Dr. Elard Koch of the University of Chile, show that maternal mortality declined significantly even after Chile prohibited abortion in 1989. Maternal deaths due specifically to abortion also dropped after abortion was made illegal in 1989. Chile’s success contrasts with the recent record of the United States, which permits abortion on demand and has seen its maternal mortality rate climb upward over the last two decades. The U.S. maternal mortality ratio (the number of deaths per 100,000 live births) increased from 10.3 in 1999 to 23.2 in 2009. Over the same period, Chile’s ratio decreased from 23.6 to 16.9. The National Right to Life Educational Trust Fund is a recognized nongovernmental organization (NGO) in consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
